Don Schuster 1970 W4 Detroit Radio Air Check

Don Schuster worked at multiple Detroit radio and TV stations, including positions as an on-air DJ, programming management, account executive, and sales management.

His life-long interest in being a DJ began when he was seven years old and his older brother suggested they “play radio station.” Don thought it was the “funnest” thing he had ever done. From that day forward, he had his sights set on being a DJ.

His vision stayed right on track when he got his first job at a major Detroit radio station while attending Harper Woods High School. One month after graduating, Don became a full-time, on-air Detroit-based disc jockey, where he remained until he began attending college at Wayne State as a business major. During college, Don became the youngest Program Director of a major radio station in Detroit…a rock music station known as

After several other radio jobs, as well as a stint as an instructor at the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts, Don worked for WWJ 97.1FM in Media Advertising Sales, WOMC 104.3FM, and, eventually Sales Manager at WWJ Newsradio 950.

During his five-year stretch as an Account Executive at WDIV-TV NBC Channel 4, Don decided he would like to “go back to his roots” as a DJ. In 1990, he started his own DJ Service and has been full-time in his business ever since.
